In the midst of West Coast rapper Kendrick Lamar’s rise to fame, news of a collaboration with pop princess Lady Gaga began to circulate the ‘net. It almost seemed too unbelievable to be true, and at first it appeared as such. When Kendrick’s debut studio release ‘good kid, m.A.A.d city’ leaked, no Gaga feature was listed on its official tracklisting. The dream collaboration seemed unfathomable until Gaga herself released the demo version via Twitter, to both Kendrick and their fans’ surprise. Resulting from Gaga’s self-promotion came a great version of “Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe” that should’ve made the final cut on Kendrick’s debut. While Kendrick’s lyrics here have become hip-hop quotables, it is Gaga’s sultry vocals that really makes “Vibe” pop. Reviews of the demo have been relatively mixed, but any genuine hip-hop/pop collaborationĀ featuring two greats stands out on any occasion. Listen and download below.
