50. Paloma Faith – A Perfect Contradiction
She may be an underground British treasure, but Paloma’s vocals are raw and emotional.
49. Neon Trees – Pop Psychology
The indie band from Utah deliver sweet rock/pop gems on their critically-acclaimed third album.
48. The-Dream – Royalty (The Prequel)
We didn’t get an official album from The-Dream this year, but this EP of pringles (preview singles) was a promising start.
47. Ab-Soul – These Days
Compton’s finest brought a strong rap set to TDE early this year, leading to his biggest selling album to date.
46. Tove Lo – Queen Of The Clouds
More singles by year’s end would’ve given the Swedish pop star a higher rating, but instead she’d rather “stay high” for now.
45. Gorgon City – Sirens
While not as effortless as Disclosure’s ‘Settle’, Gorgon City’s ‘Sirens’ managed to revive Jennifer Hudson’s career on standout “Go All Night” while Katy B holds her own on “Lover Like You”.
44. You+Me – Rose Ave.
Pink’s trial project with Canadian singer Dallas Green is quite impressive and shows the stripped-down ‘Missundaztood’ singer I’ve grown to love.
43. Cher Lloyd – Sorry I’m Late
After pairing with Dr. Luke, Cher’s stateside success has increased her visibility as a well-versed pop star.
42. SoMo – SoMo
Discovered and signed directly from YouTube, SoMo’s debut is commendable and has been making waves on the R&B/urban digital charts.
41. Neon Hitch – 301 To Paradise
Neon’s second EP/mixtape continues her string of effortless gypsy pop that I just couldn’t get enough of.
