“Love Lockdown”
Patrick Stump, lead singer of Fall Out Boy, is one of my favorite male rock vocalists, without question. Having him cover one of my favorite #kanyeballads of all time is the perfect infusion of rock and hip hop. Stump, along with the band’s bass heavy assistance, takes Yeezy’s “Love Lockdown” to another level. As the verses build, Stump increases his octave, adding passion to the lyrics and arrangements with ease. The Kanye cover proved to be a profitable move for the band, with its subsequent recording released exclusively for the ‘Live at Phoenix’ CD. Listen and download below.

“So Sick”
Again, Stump’s rocker vocals excel, only this time over Ne-Yo’s Grammy-winning single “So Sick”. Choosing a difficult R&B cover is hard enough, but singing live and impromptu for the Live Lounge series deserves its rightful recognition. Stump’s performance here is a bit more unpolished than “Love Lockdown”, but its the rawness and emotion that Stump brings to Ne-Yo’s single that makes it great. Listen and download below.
