When I first heard Jessie Ware’s ‘Devotion’ album back in August 2012, I knew it would become one of my favorites of the year. Discovered by Sade’s camp and raised under the BBC umbrella, Ware’s debut stands as the best debut album since Adele’s ’19’. The hypnotizing voice, the heartfelt songwriting, and her undeniable beauty has changed my outlook on music today. ‘Devotion’ is an angelic trip through R&B, trip hop, and classical – all with a contemporary twist. This album can’t be overlooked, because it’s centuries better than ANY release this year (and possibly the last ten). Without giving too much away, ‘Devotion’ is the definition of musical perfection and rightfully claims the top spot on TUA’s ‘Best Albums of 2012’ list.
