As the second edition of Billboard’s Candid Covers (see Cher Lloyd’s cover here), English folk singer Lianne Li Havas takes on one of the biggest R&B songs of all-time – Jill Scott’s “He Loves Me”. Lianne’s debut album ‘Is Your Love Big Enough?’ gained viral attention in mid-2012 with her single “Lost and Found”, a soulful number with an equally impressive vocal. Since garnering international acclaim, Lianne takes the Billboard Candid Covers stage to describe her love for one of Jill’s most recognizable ballads. On her cover of “He Loves Me”, Lianne incorporates a subdued melody to Jill’s classic and makes the song her own. She also plays the guitar throughout the entire cover, mainly to showcase her many talents in addition to singing gracefully. Lianne not only makes a great song even greater, but she does so with utmost poise. Usually I’m not a fan of artists covering Jill (because of her grandeur essence), but this cover is definitely worth a listen.
