If this is a dream, don’t open my eyes
Am I asleep, no I’m alive
I just an’t believe that this is my life
In my fantasy, we’re running wild
Fresh off the heels of an international takeover from her debut album ‘Who You Are’ fueled by the Katy Perry-written single “Domino” comes the first official single from UK soul star Jessie J’s upcoming second album. While the singles from the aforementioned album weren’t aiming for radio success, “Domino” shot to the top of over 35 charts internationally, including the United States. On new single “Wild”, she surpasses the radio for a club-friendly, drunken party song. Her #banjifactor is much more prevalent on the verses, but the chorus is stadium-ready and filled with signature Jessie high-notes. “Wild”, which was produced by Ammo (Katy Perry’s “E.T.”, Ke$ha’s “Your Love Is My Drug”), has one of those pounding, pulsating beats that sounds amazing loud while driving down a long road at 25 miles per hour over the speed limit, fully encapsulating the song title’s theme. The “Wild” video marks the official debut of Jessie’s new haircut, which was done as part of the BBC ‘Comic Relief’ charity fundraiser, and also features the sexiness of Big Sean and Dizzee Rascal. Jessie also gets her #blackgirldancemoves on and proves that she’s more than just a vocalist. I have a premonition that “Wild” could take over American clubs this summer once it really starts to begin its radio traction, but for now I’m enjoying her newfound high fashion look in every photo (and video) I see of her.
