Odd Future lyricist Earl Sweatshirt finally released his critically acclaimed second album ‘Doris’ and it’s been hailed as one of the best rap albums of 2013. Sweatshirt has been known for his intense lyrical wordplay, and is seen by some as the best rapper in the Odd troupe. On “Sunday”, Ear trades rap bars with OFGWKTA vocalist Frank Ocean. The two tackle different subjects such as Earl pondering about life without 420 (“nightmares got more vivid when I stopped smoking pot”) and his own destiny (“what good is west coast weather if you’re bipolar?”). Frank, on the other hand, takes a much more personal approach, using his #rarerapflow to shed light on his recent brawl with Chris Brown. “And why’s his mug all bloody, that was a three-on-one / standing ovation at Staples, I got my Grammys and gold” raps an unfazed Ocean, who is currently pursuing charges for the highly publicized incident. Despite the slight dramatics, Ocean’s display of lyricism adds lots to Sweatshirt’s latest creative release. Listen and download Earl Sweatshirt and Frank Ocean’s “Sunday” below.
