It’s been almost seven years since its release and Beyonce’ is still living up to my favorite song from her five-time Grammy nominated album ‘B’Day’. On “World Wide Woman”, Bey triumphantly sings about being the type of woman that’s everything a man could ever ask for. “I’m a world wide woman, WWW / you can log on anywhere / your girl can take you there” soars Bey on the chorus, which was written by herself, Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, and Sean Garrett. Initially, the single made waves just from its demo version that leaked in late 2007. This led to Bey’s inclusion of “Woman” on ‘B’Day’s international re-release, which also debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. “Woman” served as Bey and Darkchild’s second solo collaboration and has me wondering why they don’t work together more often. It’s because of Darkchild’s ability to craft iconic, anthemic songs paired with Beyonce’s powerful vocals that made “Woman” a minor success without any promo (a la her current album).
