Golden Globe winning actress Katey Sagal has been up to much more greatness beyond her tenure on ‘Sons Of Anarchy’. In addition to numerous award worthy film and television roles, Katey can now add “distinguished singer” to her long list of accolades. On her third full-length album ‘Covered’, Sagal decides to redux some of the best country and rock ballads of all-time. My personal favorite – and the most surprising of all – comes in the form of a lesser-known Joni Mitchell song entitled “For Free”. Katey’s soft, beautiful voice is an unexpected pleasure over the Joni classic lifted from her rare ‘Ladies Of The Canyon’ album. While the ‘Canyon’ album includes Joni’s biggest hit to date (“Big Yellow Taxi”), its commendable that Katey chose a more challenging song of hers to cover. On the “For Free” cover, Katey’s vocals sound like a seasoned blues singer with a bit of an #oldlady edge.
