The accomplishments for Roc Nation rock band HAIM continue to pour in. After earning a Best New Artist Grammy nomination and being announced as openers for Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’ tour, Jimmy Kimmel invited the band for his inaugural “Mash Up Mondays” performance series. Teaming up with The Time lead singer Morris Day, the eclectic band ‘Morris Day And The HAIM’ were tasked with one of Day’s biggest group hits “Jungle Love”. As some of the original Time members play guitar and drums, the HAIM sisters own the stage as a trio reminiscent of the Supremes with their overly coordinated dance moves. Following a serious dance intro, Day begins with the most prominent “Jungle” verse (1:29) which leads into HAIM assisting with the chorus around 1:47. But the undeniable highlight of Morris Day And The HAIM is when Este joins in on the Jungle Love Dance (2:36). The mashup is interesting because HAIM are rockers and The Time are (were) soul crooners, which means that pairing the two together could’ve been a recipe for darkness. Thank goodness for Este’s dance moves. Watch Morris Day and the HAIM perform The Time’s “Jungle Love” below.
