Kreayshawn’s seriously delayed first single off her debut studio release ‘Something About Kreay’ leaves listeners with four words of insight from the Oakland-bred rapper – “juice, cheese, bread, breakfast”. That’s about all you’ll discover from her verse and her year-long-plus disappearance, but the song’s feature guest 2 Chainz is a different story. As with most of his recent guest verses (Nicki’s “Beez In Da Trap”, B.o.B’s “Perfect Symmetry”, Young Jeezy’s “SupaFreak”), he steals the show with his witty punch lines and hard Southern raps. And while up against a rapper like Kreayshawn, whose lyrics aren’t necessary taken seriously (“I got the swag and it’s dripping out my ovaries”), the competition is unmatched. The video for “Breakfast”, dubbed a #meal directed by Kreay herself, features her best look to date – I honestly hated her two-tone scraggly hair. Either way, the overall production and collaboration between lyrical worlds makes for a somewhat decent first single, but I’m hoping her solo songs won’t be as lyrically cringeworthy.
