Kelly Clarkson’s vocals are up there with the best pop princesses, and her redux of the Coldplay/Riri classic “Princess of China” doesn’t disappoint. As the first American Idol winner, she’s always carried heavy weight on her shoulders, and has accomplished more and more with each of her albums. Since Idol contestants don’t usually fare as well in the UK than stateside (#american idol), Clarkson’s first trip to the BBC Live stage had to be a showstopper. Around 1:14, Kelly begins to lift her vocals noticeably, something only true vocalists have control over, and strangely the only thing I really like about her. Listen and download below.
