Since his critically acclaimed coming out announcement earlier this week, Frank Ocean media and press has been on an all-time high. With his name on everyone’s tongues, why not capitalize on the moment by releasing a smooth, Pharrell Williams-produced jam? “Sweet Life”, like most of his other songs, features no pronouns, just a breezy melody over Pharrell’s keyboard/drum arrangement. The song is very Neptunes-ish, but with more of a raw soulful feeling given Ocean’s vocal ability. The “so why see the world, when you got the beach” refrain that closes Frank’s latest release is a vivid realization to any of his potential lovers, as his status as a superstar has already been achieved. I’m anxiously hoping “Sweet Life” will follow his slowburning first single “Diamonds” (released in late May). Listen and download Frank’s “Sweet Life” below.
