Harlem female rap sensation Azealia Banks is not only a cutting edge lyricist, but also every fashion designer’s dream with her smooth, blemish-free milk chocolate skin and legs for days…no wait….years that seem almost endless. The self-proclaimed #yungrapunxell recently posed for indie photography book Paper Mag. Her music may be more Harlem meets the 90’s scene meets hip-hop meets ballroom, but her fashion sense is strictly one form – high fashion. Azealia’s style is its own essence – filled with urban couture and Harlem vogue-ish street looks, if that’s even possible, but Miss Bank$ encapsulates all of these things in her latest fashion print spread for Paper Mag.
In the first animated photo, Azealia is wearing a fierce metallic jacket by Diesel Black Gold with white hot pants by Ashton Michael. She accompanies these great pieces with a seashell bra and mega collar, both by Louis Vuitton. The accessories add more flair and pizazz with sling back-esque Louis Vuitton pumps, a Versace belt, and Diesel glasses. Legs sums up the sassy look with necklace, earrings, and ring by Mishka Piaf, and earrings by Glynneth B.
This is one of the best looks of the bunch. It’s simple but racy top is by one of the greatest, Alexander Wang. The eye-catching earrings and cuff are the products of JuJu Gold with a ring by Mishka Piaf. She adds even more jewels with a thumb ring and cuff by Glynneth B. The headpiece here, which is actually a necklace, is definitely the show stopper. Combine all this with great makeup and fab hair and this is a look to envy.
Though not my favorite look with this pose, it does have its highs and lows. The collar or necklace is from Glynneth B and is definitely the main event. The blouse is a close second by Acne worn with pants by Diesel Black Gold. The lipstick and eye shadow colors are congruent with current neon trends and look fabulous against her ebony skin, but the look was lost on the unflattering image before us.
Here we get a head on look at the first look in the spread. Minus the collar, although it’s not too ghastly, the look isn’t bad. Perhaps the collar could have been could have been optional for this particular shot. Overall, it gets a 7 ½ from TUA.
This look is fun, as Banks is styled in another Alexander Wang blouse with shorts and hat by Joyrich. The belt is Diesel Black Gold and the shoes are by Pedro Garcia. The look is accessorized with earrings by Glynneth B and the totally, fabulously eccentric bag by Todd Pearce for Love Bailey. It’s safe to say that one’s eyes are immediately drawn to the overly lavish bag.
