Oakland up-and-coming rapper Gita Speaxdaily, who recently performed at Azealia Banks’s ‘Mermaid Ball’, is currently preparing her upcoming untitled first release. Adding to the pot of indie female rappers with talent, Gita brings a smooth #gamemeets50flow to “Hood Rich” her debut video. The clip features an odd Japanese shot paralleled with Gita performing on TV as her beauty shines brightly in both roles. Gita’s lyrics prove that her lifestyle may not be that #hood, but she is and isn’t afraid to show it (see: barrettes). My favorite lyrical moment from the visual is the second verse (beginning at 1:47) – Gita shows so much character, #starquality, and modelesque that its surprising that she’s still unsigned.
