British rapper M.I.A. has been planning to release her fourth album ‘Matangi’ for over a year now, but there’s much more hope with her second single on the horizon. “Bring The Noize”, produced by French DJ Surkin and British DJ Switch, does not stray far from typical M.I.A. material, giving her electronica-meets-hip-hop-and-reggae influence a modern-day spin. The single follows off the heels of the Danja-produced “Bad Girls”, which made waves as an international crossover hit in early 2012. On her new single nearly a year later, M.I.A’s raps are more commanding than usual but she still manages to mix her house-chanting influence to the track’s chorus. In typical M.I.A. fashion, the “Bring The Noize” video is an eclectic mix of her Sri Lankan culture and high fashion topped with her striking beauty. The gold nails and pink wig accentuates her features as she spits her verses while being surrounded by a sea of international hotties. Towards the end of the “Noize” video, dancers get their chance to show their moves over one of her most exciting, energetic beats to date. With M.I.A’s influence heavily tied between the intersection of music and fashion, ‘Matangi’ (scheduled for release on November 4, 2013) will be one of my most anticipated albums of the year.
