Danish breakout singer MØ (pronounced ‘moo’) went on a streak of releasing hit indie single after single until she ended up with a Sony deal in mid-2013. Serving as the lead single from her debut ‘Bikini Daze’ EP is MØ’s “XXX 88”. The track features production and guest instrumentation from Grammy-nominated producer Diplo. His signature drum layering is very present on “XXX 88” giving the song some extra punch alongside MØ’s mainly lower register vocals. The eerie ballad is a lot to take in as she confidently sings “boy, life is cynical despite my heart of gold”. While Diplo makes an #unexpected appearance in the video, it’s MØ who steals the show. Her look may be grunge/grime similar to Grimes or Purity Ring, but there’s so much more. MØ’s highly anticipated debut album ‘No Mythologies To Follow’ hits stores March 10, 2014.
