Pop starlet Ariana Grande hasn’t really impressed me with her music until her latest collaboration with Major Lazer. “All My Love”, lifted from Lorde’s ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay (Part 1)’ soundtrack, could possibly be the best thing that Ariana has ever done. This is the first Ariana song I’ve ever liked, solely because it’s the only song in her catalog where she’s not trying to sound like Mariah Carey. On “Love”, Ariana rides a Major Lazer beat that’s slightly reminiscent of Rihanna’s “Only Girl (In The World)” on a first listen. As the chorus builds, Ariana’s vocals finally soar into pleasant, Mariah-less territories as she croons “only love will make us ache, only love is worth the chase” over the uptempo reggaeton chorus breakdown. Previously advertised as a hidden track, “Love” was co-written with Diplo, Ariana, Lorde, and MØ and will hopefully become unleashed as an official single sometime this year.
