Any collaboration by Diplo is bound to get anyone moving, and his latest collaboration with some of the best underground rappers comes as no surprise. On the hard-hitting “Doctor Pepper”, K-pop femcee CL shines brightly on the track that also features Houston’s RiFF RAFF and 2015 XXL Freshman Class nominee OG Maco. Although CL’s primarily known for her stint in the international K-pop group 2ne1, the song is one of the grittiest Atlanta rap tracks that’s come out in a while. “Feeling so clean, it don’t get no fresher / chillin’ in the freezer when I’m under pressure / I put it on ice bitch, Dr. Pepper” raps CL on the chorus before her and the other rappers spit super-short verses. Overall, Diplo’s latest endeavor is an all-star hip-hop affair featuring fresh talent that’s not overplayed on radio – and I’m desperately hoping for a sick video treatment soon.
