[YEAR-END] Top 50 Albums Of 2015 (#6) x The Internet ‘Ego Death’

no6

Former Odd Future affiliated band The Internet didn’t get onto my radar until this year, but I’m really glad they did. After the band released a few EPs and two albums proper album in 2011 and 2013, ‘Ego Death’ was quietly released in June of this year. The album starts off with the hip-hop standout “Get Away” and gains momentum as each track goes by. Lead singer Syd Tha Kyd leads the six piece band with her subdued vocals as the other members play live instruments, which leads to an authentic live soul group that’s unheard of in R&B today. The group may be filled with lots of hip-hop connections, but Syd’s undeniable vocal and songwriting talents take the brand to new heights.

Best Selling Single: “Get Away”

Take A Chance On: “Girl” (feat. KAYTRANADA)

Should Be Next Single: “Just Sayin/I Tried”

My Favorite: “Under Control”
